Junior Coaching

Our Junior Golf Coaching has something for every young golfer. Designed for boys and girls from the age of 7+, it covers how to hold a golf club and swinging safely through to essential golf rules, etiquette and more advanced shot making.

The Club’s PGA Professional, Gary Lister organises Junior Golf Coaching for up to 10 children in 4 -week blocks throughout the season. He also runs Junior Golf Camps in the Easter and Summer holidays. Camps are arranged for a morning or afternoon for a 2-hour session Monday – Thursday.

Every year we run a Girls’ Golf Hub to give all girls the chance to learn golfing together.

A group of PGA Level 1 Coaches run games-based coaching for beginners and tri golf once a month respectively for beginners to aim to get them course ready.

Tri-Golf is our short 6-hole golf course with bucket holes on our practice ground and is perfect for starting to learn and practice the game.

Junior Playing: On Course

There is a wide range of competitions held throughout the year and you don’t always need a handicap to play in them. It’s about getting out on the course and practicing.

If you would like to get your first handicap you need to hand in cards for 54 holes played as 3 x 18 holes, 6 x 9 holes, or a mix of 9 and 18 holes. Your card is marked by a player with a handicap, but the Pro or Junior Playing Organiser can help you organise this.

9- and 18-Hole Competitions

Juniors with an official handicap can play 9- and 18-hole competitions on a Sunday and the first Monday of the month. These competitions are a mix of formats to keep it interesting.

Aberdeen and District Pennant League

Peterculter Golf Cub is a member of the Aberdeen and District Junior Pennant League and enters a team in the Pennant League and Off the Tee Trophy competition giving our most promising Juniors the opportunity to represent the club in home and away matches.

Saturday 6 Hole League

Come along and play 6 holes from the tee that suits your ability or you would like to practice from. One parent/group walker is required for younger/less experienced players to help with scoring. No handicap is required.

Friday Night Flag Competition

Once a month on a Friday evening we have a 36 Shot Flag Challenge. How many holes can you play in 36 shots? No handicap is required.

Interclub Friendlies

Matches are organised to allow all juniors with a handicap to play in a fun competition against other Junior Section teams in the area.

Texas Scrambles, Greensomes, Foursomes

There are Adult/Junior or Junior /Junior pairs events organised throughout the year.

Junior Open

There is an opportunity to show off our course to our Juniors and their friends from other clubs at the Junior Open in the Summertime.

Golf Sixes

The Golfsixes League is a fun, team-based competition for boys and girls aged between 11-12 who do not have a handicap. It’s designed to give them an early experience of playing for their club against other local teams. A team compete against other local clubs in regional leagues.

We finish the year with a Family BBQ and Prizegiving in September.
