Dean G. Vannet

Dean was born in Arbroath in 1964 and raised in Carnoustie where he started to learn to play golf from the age of 7. Dean achieved a handicap of scratch at 16 yrs of age and represented both club and country from Scottish schoolboy international to boy international with his main highlight coming when he captured the European Schoolboy title over the tough links of Portmarock in Ireland.

Dean moved to take up his role as Assistant Professional at Banchory GC in 1985 and trained for 5 years alongside former Open Champion Paul Lawrie. After a brief spell in England he moved to take up the role as the clubs first PGA Professional at Peterculter GC in May 1992.

In 2001 he was appointed as the clubs General Manager and combine both roles. With the assistance of his new Assistant in the shop Ross McConnachie, they strive to offer all our customers with the best possible service.

Although his playing has reduced greatly at the present time due to his other duties at the club, Dean has managed to win several Pro Am events with particular highlights coming in 1996 where he scored 62 (10 under par) in winning the Portlethen Pro-Am and establishing a new course record which still stands to date. Also in the same year he scored a 64 (8 under par) over the Nairn Dunbar course playing in Nabors Drilling Pro-Am, and while the score itself was enjoyable, the most memorable part of the round was scoring 9 consecutive birdies from the 5th to the 13th - those were the days!
